Pohela Falgun, the first day of spring in the Bangla month of Falgun, has been celebrated across Bangladesh. The festival took place on Wednesday, with individuals joining various functions wearing dazzling dresses. Falgun is the eleventh month in the Bangla calendar and the first month of the spring season. The first day of Falgun is known as Pohela Falgun, which usually falls on February 13 of the Gregorian calendar. Women dress in “Basanti” (yellow or orange) coloured sarees while men wear colourful Panjabi to welcome the season. A spring festival was organized on the premises of Dhaka University's (DU) Faculty of Fine Arts, which is the centre of festivities. Additionally, different socio-cultural organizations celebrated the day with various programs in Dhaka and elsewhere.
